IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

Professor of Civil Engineering, Papua New Guinea
The Papua New Guinea University of Technology is located in the industrial city of Lae, the second largest city in Papua New Guinea. The city is accessible by air from any part of the world. The University is the only technological university in Papua New Guinea. It has a main campus and three affiliated colleges. The main campus has 14 academic departments including one in Open and Distance Learning (ODL). It offers undergraduate and graduate programs in engineering, natural and applied sciences, built environment, language and business. 

The Department of Civil Engineering is responsible for educating aspiring engineers in the fields of Structures, Water, Environmental, Geotechnical and Transportation Engineering, and Construction Management. These disciplines are organized in a manner that provides a broad-based general Civil Engineering program. The department also offers Postgraduate Certificate and Diploma courses as well as Masters in Engineering (M.Eng) by research, and PhD programs. 

The Department has sufficiently equipped laboratories for teaching and research and is housed in four main buildings. The staff members of the department are actively engaged in research in all major aspects of civil engineering and maintain close contact with industry and government departments. The department encourages consultancy work by all staff. 

Applications are invited for positions in the following areas of Civil Engineering: Construction Management, Environmental Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Hydraulics and Water Resources Engineering, Civil Engineering Construction Materials especially in Concrete Technology, Engineering Drawing, Transportation Engineering and Structural Engineering. Candidates with proven ability in development technologies and ability to teach in several of the areas mentioned above will be preferred.
