IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

Fully funded PhD Position at University of Nottingham in tsunami modelling, UK
Applications are invited for a fully funded PhD research studentship in the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Nottingham, ranked 77th in the recent QS World University Ranking. The successful candidate will conduct numerical research into landslide-tsunamis under the project title Numerical Characterisation of Landslide-Tsunamis in Idealised and Real-World Water Bodies. The student should be enthusiastic and exact working with a good degree in engineering, mathematics, physics or related disciplines. Experience in numerical modelling and good programming skills are essential. Good knowledge of fluid and wave mechanics is an asset.
 
The studentship will cover PhD tuition fees and a tax free stipend for three years for UK/EU students only due to funding restrictions, with possible £2,000 enhancement for an exceptional candidate. The studentship is expected to start the 1st October 2015, or as early as possible after this date.
