PhD Studentship: Prediction of the impact of bio-fouling on efficiency and survivability of marine renewable devices
The COAST (Coastal, Ocean and Sediment Transport) Research Group at Plymouth University (UK) is seeking to recruit an outstanding candidate for a fully funded PhD position. The successful candidate will be developing both experimental and CFD techniques to better predict the impact of bio-fouling on marine renewable devices. Experiments will be conducted within the COAST Laboratory (www.plymouth.ac.uk/research/institutes/marine-institute/coast-laboratory<http://www.plymouth.ac.uk/research/institutes/marine-institute/coast-laboratory>). The project is also a collaboration with PML Applications Ltd, who have a track record of working with marine renewable device developers to manage operational biofouling issues. The successful student should have experience in undertaking physical experiments, with a first (or upper second) class degree in engineering, physical science or closely allied subject.

Full details of the position are available at www.plymouth.ac.uk/student-life/your-studies/the-graduate-school/fully-funded-phd-studentships/science-and-engineering<http://www.plymouth.ac.uk/student-life/your-studies/the-graduate-school/fully-funded-phd-studentships/science-and-engineering>, and applications should be made online. The closing date for this position is 15 September, 2015, although early application is encouraged. Please note that this funding covers UK/EU student fees only, and prospective international students will be required to fund the difference.
