Byrne Looby Partners (www.ByrneLooby.com) are an internationally recognized Consultancy firm who are rapidly expanding their operations in the Middle East and are looking for motivated marine engineers to join their growing Marine Design Team.This exciting opportunity is for a dynamic Bahrain-based Coastal Engineer with experience in design of beaches, numerical modelling and general coastal processes.
The ideal candidate (minimum 3-5 years? experience) should be able to undertake independently beach design and hydraulic modelling on coastal areas on a variety of projects (in support of design or stand-alone studies) throughout the Gulf region. Candidate will also be required to be flexible and engage in engineering design of other coastal/port structures (including rock
revetment, quay wall, groynes etc.) and assist project managers and Directors.
Qualifications and key skills required:
Bachelors degree in relevant subjects (Master degree preferred)
Chartered status or in the process to obtain equivalent professional qualification;
Experience in beach design and coastal processes (previous experience in the Gulf preferred);
Experience in numerical modelling for marine application. This should include the following MIKE21 software modules: HD,AD, SW, BW ;
Experience with MIKE21 ST, MT, PT and LITPACK for beach design/coastal processes
Exposure to dispersion modelling studies associated with conservative or decaying substances (including brine and plume dispersion). This includes 2D and 3D dispersion studies on outfalls and intakes(experience with MIKE3 and/or Delft 3D is an advantage).
Met-ocean studies including statistical analysis of wind, waves and water levels.
Excellent report-writing ability: the candidate will be required to be responsible for the delivery of technical reports as well as technical proposal in his/her area of expertise;
Sound commercial abilities: the candidate will be required to estimate fees for undertaking modelling and beach design works and have ability to work within budget and programme;
Team player: it is expected that the candidate has excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to mentor/lead more junior staff;
Knowledgeable of codes and standards applicable to his own area of expertise and able to undertake independent research when required.
