The University of Missouri Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering seeks an innovative leader to fill a newly endowed position in the area of Asphalt/Flexible Pavements. This is a new tenured or tenure track position to be filled at the Associate Professor level or higher. Candidates with distinguished academic records and demonstrated promise will be considered, including well-established "senior" candidates with a long track record of sustained academic success as well as mid-career "rising stars" with a strong evidence of scholarly achievement and future promise. The selected candidate will be awarded the position of Endowed Chair or Endowed Professor, as appropriate for the candidate’s accomplishments.
The holder of this endowed position will be expected to build and maintain a nationally recognized program of research, education, and technical service in the field of Asphalt/Flexible Pavements. The individual will establish and operate a research/teaching laboratory, educate graduate and undergraduate students, conduct significant and meaningful research, publish in respected national and international publications, and otherwise build a nationally recognized program in Asphalt/Flexible Pavements. Additional expectations include:
Coordinate with the Missouri Asphalt Pavers Association (MAPA) and others including state, federal, and local governments to identify significant research, technology and educational needs in Asphalt/Flexible Pavements
Establish a strong externally funded research program that includes linkages with the asphalt industry, NCAT, FHWA, NCHRP, and TRB as well as governmental units within Missouri
Partner in research with other universities or firms when appropriate to enhance the strength of the asphalt/flexible pavements program
Develop and teach a university level curriculum in Asphalt/Flexible Pavements
Annually present a report of goals, activities, and accomplishments at the annual meeting of MAPA or at another mutually agreed upon time.
