Students will focus on internal wave dynamics and turbulent mixing, making use of both unique field observations and theoretical modeling. This work on hydrodynamics will contribute to a collaborative, multi-year, National Science Foundation-funded effort to understand interactions between hydrodynamics and nitrogen processing. Required background: Bachelor?s or Master?s degree in physics/engineering, environmental sciences, or math, completed by project start date (those with Masters degrees will be considered for the Ph.D. program). Start date no later than fall 2016. Students will be supported by research assistantships, teaching assistantships, and tuition waivers.
