Dr Jing PENG Director of the International Cooperation Division of IWHR and recently elected council member of IAHR has been appointed as IAHR Secretary General by the council of IAHR - joining our existing Secretary General Ramon Gutierrez Serret as one of two Secretary Generals for the Association having special responsibility for links with IWHR, China which is one of the two sponsoring bodies of the association.
Jing is an experienced hydraulic engineer who received her PhD from Tokyo University under Prof Nobuyuki Tamai and since then has worked in IWHR in Beijing. She is currently head of the department of international collaboration at IWHR. Jing's technical expertise is centered on river environment issues and she will bring both her technical expertise and her point of view as a non university member to IAHR decision-making! (Our other existing SG, Dr Ramon Gutierrez Serret, is also a hydraulic engineer from Madrid Polytechnic University, and is head of the ports and coasts laboratory of CEDEX, the spanish national public works research institute).
Jing and Ramon together with the three elected Vice Presidents (Arthur Mynett, Arturo Marcano, and James Ball), President Peter Goodwin, and Executive Director Chris George constitute the Executive Committee of the Association which works with the council to oversee the operation and development of the association.
