Fixed-term for 31 months
We need a talented researcher to study the role of the Tibetan Plateau in establishing South and East Asian monsoon circulation patterns and their importance in East Asian climate variability. These topics are of fundamental importance to weather, climate and water resources in the region and with implications worldwide. As part of the CSSP-China programme (Newton Fund/Met Office Climate Science for Services Partnership-China), funded by the UK government BIS UK-China Research and Innovation Partnership Fund, you will participate as part of a unique new research programme. You will work closely with collaborators at the Met Office and in China. You will be responsible for designing and executing global circulation model experiments, analyzing their output and publishing the results.
You will have:
A Ph.D. or equivalent in physical or mathematical sciences
Experience of running GCMs, ideally the Met Office Unified Model
Strong scientific computing skills
An understanding of physical processes relating to weather and climate
