The University of Coimbra offers one research grant to work on the Project “CENTAUR - Cost Effective Neural Technique for Alleviation of Urban Flood Risk”, with the following characteristics:

Type of activity: The project focus on the investigation and development of optimal sensor and flood control device networks to control urban water systems in real-time, aiming at reducing pluvial flooding in urban areas.
You will be part of the interdisciplinary research project CENTAUR (“Cost Effective Neural Technique to Alleviate Urban flood Risk”), where we collaborate with researchers and practicioners from Sheffield University (UK), EAWAG (CH) and industry partners from UK, Germany and Portugal.
The main tasks include the development of new hydraulic models and techniques to model real-time control devices. Monitoring, data aquisition and calibration of models. Elaboration of reports and scientific publications.

Applicant profile: MSc degree in Civil Engineering (Hydraulics and Water Resources), Environmental Engineering, Computer Science or HydroInformatics.
