Professor - Civil & Environmental Engineering, University of Delaware, US
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering ( http://www.ce.udel.edu/) at the University of Delaware invites applications for a tenured faculty position at the rank of Full Professor.

We seek a creative and ambitious individual who has a strong record of excellence in research and teaching and an established reputation as a leader in the field.  While applicants in the broad field of environmental engineering and science will be considered, candidates specializing in physical-chemical processes, emerging contaminants, and novel investigative tools are of particular interest.  The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in environmental engineering or a closely related discipline and will mount an innovative and productive program of fundamental research with clear impacts on our societal challenges.  In addition, she/he is expected to develop and direct a new university-wide doctoral program in Environmental Engineering and Science that will forge collaboration among researchers across campus and produce students equipped to tackle the complex environmental problems of the future.

Founded in 1743, the University of Delaware ( http://www.udel.edu/) is one of the nation’s oldest institutions of higher education.  The University combines a rich historic legacy in engineering with a strong commitment to education and scientific discovery.  With annual external funding exceeding $200 million, the University ranks among the top 100 universities in federal R&D support for science and engineering.  Supported by state-of-the-art facilities, research is conducted across all seven colleges and many research institutes and centers.  The newly erected, 194,000-square-foot Harker Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering (ISE) Laboratory greatly expands opportunities and resources for cross-disciplinary research and teaching.  The Delaware Environmental Institute ( http://www.denin.udel.edu/), housed in the Harker ISE Laboratory, provides a focal point for environmental research on campus.  The recently acquired 272-acre STAR (Science, Technology, and Advanced Research) campus offers further opportunities for academic research and commercial development.
