CONSTRUCTION ENGINEERING AND MANAGEMENT (CE&M) FACULTY / DIRECTOR POSITION, University of Delaware, US
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering invites applications for a continuing-track faculty position in Construction Engineering and Management (CE&M) starting Fall 2016.  The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Delaware is initiating a new program in Construction Engineering and Management that will ultimately lead to the creation of a bachelor’s degree in CE&M and associated minors.  This program will build on the established strengths of UD’s Civil Engineering program, the Lerner College of Business and Economics, and the Horn Program in Entrepreneurship.  The first full time faculty member and director of this new program will be hired into this position.  The successful applicant is expected to have extensive knowledge and experience in construction engineering and construction management through a combination of formal training/education and practical experience.  The director is expected to serve as the leader and point person for the creation and management of this new initiative.  Responsibilities will include: developing the CE&M proposal, acquiring University approval of the proposed CE&M program, promoting and marketing the program, teaching CE&M classes, advising and mentoring undergraduate students, leveraging the department’s existing co-op program by supporting a co-op experience in CE&M, liaising with the construction industry and employers, and mentoring faculty hired to teach in the CE&M program.  A master’s degree in construction engineering, construction management, civil engineering, or a closely related field, or an MBA, is required; a doctoral degree in one of these fields is preferred.  The successful candidate will also possess 10 to 15 years of progressive experience in construction engineering or construction management.  Exceptional candidates with additional experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirements.
