IAHR, founded in 1935, is a worldwide independent member-based organisation of engineers and water specialists working in fields related to the hydro-environmental sciences and their practical application. Activities range from river and maritime hydraulics to water resources development and eco-hydraulics, through to ice engineering, hydroinformatics, and hydraulic machinery.

2 PhD offers UK National Oceanographic Centre, University of Liverpool, UK
Two fully funded PhD opportunity are available at the University of Liverpool and University of Manchester under the Manchester and Liverpool Doctoral Training Program.
Project 1: “Understanding salt intrusion and salinization management in coast al areas for a sustainable food production“
Supervisors: Dr. Nicoletta Leonardi (University of Liverpool, School of Environmental Science); Dr. Nima Shokri, University of Manchester (School of Chemical Engineering & Analytical Science)

- UK nationals and other EU nationals that have resided in the UK for three years prior to commencing the studentship: the studentship provides funding for tuition fees, stipend, and conference attendance and is funded by NERC
-Students from EU countries who do not meet the residency requirements (see above point) may still be eligible for a fees-only award.
-Overseas students are not at this time eligible for funding from NERC. 
Deadline for application is February 02, 2018. 

Educational background: people with an educational background in the following are especially encouraged: engineering, ocean science, mathematics, physics. Female applicants are especially encouraged.
