Dr. Jennifer G Duan obtained her PHD degree in computational hydraulics at the University of Mississippi, National Center for Computational Hydroscience and Engineering in 1998. She is currently a Professor in the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering and Mechanics. She also holds joint appointments in the Department of Hydrology and the Department of Biosystem Engineering. She obtained MS degree from the Department of Hydraulic Engineering in Tsinghua University, PR China in 1992, and worked as a lecture in Tsinghua University (1992-1993). She was a Research Faculty in Desert Research Institute, Nevada Higher Education System (1999-2006), where she was the manager for the Urban Flooding Damage Reduction and River Restoration Project (2003-2006). She received NSF CAREER award in 2009-2014. She was a visiting professor in St Anthony Falls Laboratory in the University of Minnesota (2005). She is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineering, the American Geophysical Union, and the International Association of Hydro-environmental Engineering. She has served as Chairs of ASCE Computational Hydraulics and Sedimentation Committees, and currently the President of Chinese American Water Resource Association. She is also an Associate Editor of Journal of Hydrology. She holds an active Professional Engineering registration in the State of Arizona. She is a consultant to Battelle Memorial Institute and Worldbank.
