Abstract: A regional shingle budget methodology was designed using an adapted volume balance equation from Rosati and Kraus (1999). Regional littoral cells across the Southeast of England were balanced using data collected from the Strategic Regional Coastal Monitoring Programme over the past 10 years. The sediment budgets will form the basis for a coordinated regional beach management plan, encompassing all organizations with a responsibility to manage frontages within the littoral cells, promoting more cost-effective management of the existing shingle resource across legislative boundaries.
