Abstract: The geometrical properties of the final scour holes around the bridge piers are important when designing the foundations of the bridge piers especially during the flood flows. The flood duration and the peak flow rate, which can be represented by an unsteadiness parameter, are the major effects on the evolution of the scours. In this study, a relation between the geometrical properties of the pier scour and the characteristics of hydrographs was obtained. Two circular bridge piers were tested by three triangular shaped hydrographs in the clear water regime with sediment d 50 of 0. 43mm.
