Abstract: In this experimental study a comparison among the dimensionless lengths of the free, the repelled and the over sills, inclined (angleφ, with 0o≤φ≤9ο) steady hydraulic jumps is presented, vs the upstream Froude numbers. The laboratory results for the lengths of the jumps over sills are first presented, followed by the above comparison. The results are systematic and consistent, showing that the free and repelled jump lengths present similar characteristics, while the jump over sill lengths follow a totally different behavior in a common field of Froude numbers. All diagrams presented herein may directly be used in practice since they are in suitable scales.
