Abstract: This work has the purpose to present the studies and surveys accomplished in order to evaluate the silting up of the Mascarenhas hydroelectric power plant' s reservoir, after 23 years of operation. Measuring campaigns and field surveys were made, enabling the calculation of the amount of sediments at the reservoir and by the intake. It also presents the main conclusions to the physical hydraulic model studies presently being developed, where investigations concerning aspects such as the dam' s downstream erosion and solutions to the intake' s silting up are in course.
