Abstract: Based on the 1: 30 large scale model for the whole hydraulic engineering, the research was made according to the gravity similarity criterion. The experimental research on the discharge capacity of the spillway and flooding energy dissipation was done. The results show that in the design flood, the original design and modification scheme are not caused by erosion of downstream river channel. Flow downstream is smooth, and the velocity distribution is uniform. In the check flood, with the increase of flow discharge in the spillway, discharge per unit width increase and the water flow thickening. Air entrained energy dissipation effect is reduced along the spillway of flow surface in the original design, and it will cause serious scour on downstream by the water jet, the scour deposit blocked the tunnel outlet channel seriously. It will affect the safety of the tunnel while flood discharge. Through the scheme optimization modification, and puts forward the suitable ladder step size and continuous flip bucket scheme, the energy dissipation is higher in the check flood, the longitudinally extended width of jet is reduced greatly, the scour degree of downstream channel is reduced, and the downstream flow is smooth, velocity distribution is uniform. The velocity value is appropriate to meet the safety flood discharge of the spillway.
