Abstract: This paper presents a 1D model for simulation of flood propagation in compound channels. The model is based on the complete De Saint Venant equations formulated for compound channels. First a complete formulation of Jacobian matrix eigenvalues is recalled for a suitable computation of variables at boundaries. Then three methods for the computation of both the Boussinesq coefficient and the flow resistance have been considered. The equations have been integrated in two different ways. The performance of the model has been compared and discussed with reference to experimental tests available in the literature.
