Abstract: An important problem in the design and operation of alluvial channels is the determination of their geometrical parameters in a dynamic equilibrium condition. To achieve a dynamically stable condition a channel adjusts its slope, depth and width to carry the required amount of sediment and water. There are two approaches for the prediction of stable channel geometry: (a) regime methods and (b) rational or physical methods.
