Abstract: The presentation of this historical paper intends to highlight Bazin's description of a so-called tornado vortex, which is contained in letters sent to Boussinesq. The present author also observed this vortex, and as Bazin, never published the findings. Given the particularity of this phenomenon, it is believed to be of general interest. In addition, Bazin is described as an excellent experimenter and a great gentleman. Given that the present author has a rich source of original documents, letters and photographs, this background will not be dealt here, and reference is given to the citation below. As previously Darcy, Henry Bazin was a great master of our profession will therefore be commemorated within IAHR.
