Abstract: In this paper, the marine environmental quality visualization analysis method is proposed by the parallel coordinate method of information visualization. In this method, the intuitive characteristic of indexes level and membership could be improved by the inputting of level standards in the water quality standard. Detailed and systematic assessment method and procedure for water environmental quality is developed by combining set pair analysis method with cloud theory. The coupled assessment method has advantages of concision, easy-operation and high precision of set pair analysis method, and the randomness and ambiguity of assessment indexes’ membership can be reflected in the assessment procedure by using the cloud theory. In this paper, the parallel coordinate and the coupled assessment method of cloud theory and set pair analysis are proposed and applied to analyze and evaluate the water environmental quality in Tianjin nearshore district in recent years. The assessment results show that the water environmental quality is poor and the eutrophication phenomenon is serious by nitrogen and phosphate in the Tianjin nearshore district. The marine environmental quality visualization analysis method with parallel coordinate has advantages of concision and perceptual intuition. With the advantages of the two methods, the coupled assessment method could be applied to the water environmental quality assessment accurately and reliably.
