Abstract: In this paper, ship waves in Ca Mau River were investigated by field observation. A high-speed passenger ship, a popular traffic vehicle in Ca Mau River was selected to create waves. Ship-induced water surface elevation was recorded by Hitachi dvd cam DZ-MV350 NTSC and wave height and wave period were analyzed by Video Spirit Pro software with the accuracy of up to 1/5 seconds. Effect of river current was considered. The analysis results showed that the ship wave height can reach up to 33 cm at the measured location when the ship traveling with speed of 19 m/s and wave height increases linearly with ship speed with a correlation coefficient of 0.61.
