Abstract: Forrest M. Holly Jr. was an international leader in computational hydraulics and river hydraulics. He dealt extensively with numerical modeling of unsteady flows and dispersion processes associated with the operation of hydropower and thermal power plants, as well as with alluvial sediment transport by rivers. His expertise, energy and genial personality led him to become President of International Association of Hydraulic Engineering and Research (IAHR) during 2000-2003. Holly’s last hydraulics project engaged his expertise and was done with the friendly aplomb for which he was well known. Our paper portrays Holly as he worked on the project and briefly reminisces about our experiences in working with him.
