Various postdoc and/or research assistant positions are available in the following technical areas:

  • Hydraulics/Hydraulic Transient;

  • Optimization;

  • Machine Learning;

  • Acoustics/Acoustic metamaterials

  • Fluid Structure Interaction (preferably in pipeline systems)

  • Advanced CFD

About the role/position

Although the hiring department is civil engineering, several tasks in our projects require non-civil engineering expertise. Therefore, please feel encouraged to apply even if you do not hold a degree in civil engineering which includes Computer science engineering, Mechanical/Robotics engineering, Physics and Mathematics.

Further details about the projects and tasks will be discussed during interview sessions.

About you

  • Degree level qualifications: PhD degree (for postdoc position) or MPhil/Master degree (for Research Assistant) in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering or related fields. PhD or MPhil student position may be considered depending on the applicant background.

  • Language and communication skills: as you will be dealing with multicultural teams, excellent spoken and written English and the ability to effectively and respectfully engage in all level communication is required.

  • Flexible, organized, and diligent: you have a practical approach to help us resolve technical issues and meet deadlines; and you are able to respond positively and adapt to changing priorities.

What we offer

  • Attractive starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and according to RTH (see note 1 below). Local graduates from Hong Kong and those graduated from the top 100 Universities are highly encouraged to apply as they are prioritized for RTH application. If you do not hold a degree from Hong Kong or a Top 100 University, you need to apply for accreditation verification here (see note 1 below);

  • Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided;

  • An initial one-year contract will be offered with further employment subject to funding availability and job performance. Longer-term contracts can be negotiated depending on the position.

Note 1: RTH guideline can be found here. The RTH maximum monthly salary allowance is HK$20,000 (~ €2,400) for research talents with a bachelor degree, HK$23,000 (~ €2,700) for those with a master degree, and HK$35,000 (~ €4,100) for those with a doctoral degree. Research Talents with PhD degree (Postdoc) will receive an additional monthly living allowance (Top-Up Salary) of $10,000 (~ €1,200).
