On December 29, 2023, IAHR Vice President Prof. Mohamed Ghidaoui visited China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research (IWHR), one of the hosts of IAHR’s global secretariat, meeting IWHR President Dr. Jing Peng, also the former IAHR Secretary General, and lecturing at the Short Course on Journal Paper Writing jointly organized by IWHR, IAHR, IAHR IWHR YPN, and IAHR China Chapter.

A Chair Professor of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and also the Past Chair of the IAHR Hong Kong Chapter, Prof. Ghidaoui and Dr. Peng believed there is big room for cooperation among IAHR, IWHR, HKUST, IAHR China Chapter and IAHR Hong Kong Chapter, especially in capacity building, student exchange, and joint activities among the many Young Professionals Networks in the Asia and Pacific region.

After the meeting, Prof. Ghidaoui lectured the Short Course on Journal Paper Writing chaired by Prof. Yihao Cui, Dean of IWHR’s Graduate School, and attended by 100+ graduate students. Prof. Ghidaoui first shared his experience in paper writing, then explained the structure of a technical paper and particularly the error-prone places. He also gave comments on five papers, published or unfinished, presented by the graduate students from IWHR.
