Prof. Bombardelli of the University of California Davis appointed editor in chief of ASCE Journal of Hydraulic Engineering

Professor Fabián A. Bombardelli

The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) has appointed Professor Fabián A. Bombardelli, member of IAHR since 2003 and editor of RIBAGUA, the Spanish and Portuguese journal of IAHR, editor in chief of its Journal of Hydraulic Engineering

Professor Bombardelli obtained a degree in Hydraulic Engineering at the Universidad Nacional de la Plata, Argentina, and a master’s degree in ‘Numerical Simulation and Control’ at the Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was a research engineer in hydraulic modelling at the Instituto Nacional del Agua (INA) in Ezeiza, Argentina, from 1992 to 1998, where he developed a thesis on the numerical simulation of the hydrodynamics and pollutant transport in a large estuary and was involved in the mathematical and numerical modelling of problems associated with waves in coastal areas and harbors, the environmental impact of bridges over water courses, scour or river banks downstream of dams, the evolution of river beds over time, flow in porous media,  and thermal discharges to rivers. He developed and implemented numerical models of flow and water quality of the Paraná, la Plata, and Uruguay rivers, which rank among the largest water courses in the world. He conducted his PhD research at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), obtaining his degree in May 2004.

Professor Bombardelli has received several awards and recognition during his career and is currently associate professor with tenure at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the University of California, Davis,
