6th IAHR Africa Congress "African Water Security in the context of Climate Change"
9-12 December 2024 | Berenguir and Marrakech, Morocco

The congress will bring together experts in water research and innovation to address key challenges in Africa.

IAHR and the Congress Organising Group invite you to take part in the 6th IAHR Africa Congress  to be held in Benguerir-Marrakesh, Morocco, from 9th to 12th December 2024 . The Congress aims to provide scientists, engineers, organisations, central and local authorities, companies, and young professionals early in their careers an exciting opportunity to share and discuss recent advances and experiences and identify innovative and emerging trends in hydro-environmental science and engineering. Organized around eight themes aiming to provide an integrative and interdisciplinary platform where science, engineering, and societal policy can meet, the Congress will bring together the water science, engineering, and management communities to help address the world’s most pressing water challenges. Submit your abstract by 30 June 2024!

The 6th edition of IAHR Africa Division Congress has received till date a total of 139 registrations! Due to multiple requests the organising committee has decided to extend the deadline for abstract submission until 31 July 2024.

Registrations come from 34 different countries over 4 continents (Africa, Asia, Europe and North America).

Most of the registrations come from Morocco, Ethiopia, Nigeria, China, United States of America, Germany, Italy, United Republic of Tanzania, Iraq and Canada.

Thematics registered included diverse topics such as hydroinformatics, hydraulic structures, climate change, urban water and wastewater, water governance, lakes, estuaries and coasts, river basins management, and groundwater hydraulics and management.

 African Students Scholarship Program

As part of our commitment to fostering academic excellence and promoting diversity in water research, the IAHR Africa Congress 2024 is pleased to offer a scholarship program for 50 African students based in Africa.

The scholarship program aims to support deserving African students in their participation at the IAHR

Africa Congress 2024. Scholarships may vary in coverage and can include:

  • Waiver of registration fees

  • Partial or full coverage of travel expenses (including air tickets)

  • Accommodation assistance

  • Support for registration fees

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants must be African students currently enrolled in a university or academic institution in Africa (M.Sc. PhD or Post-Doc).

  • Applicants must submit an abstract for presentation at the conference.

  • Abstracts will undergo a rigorous peer-review process by the Scientific Committee.

  • Submission of two official recommendation letters from research supervisor and/or program director, dean, vice dean.

Scholarship Benefits:

  • Up to full support for selected scholarship recipients.
