The Mongolian Society for Water Engineering (MSWE) is the latest to join 13 other national organisations in a concerted effort to amplify the voices of national water associations on the global stage.
After signing an MoU to join the IAHR Platform for National Water Associations in August 2025, MSWE is set to work closely with other water organisations from Brazil, Chile, China, France, India, Indonesia, Korea, Mexico, Peru, Portugal, Spain and Vietnam.
MSWE is a one of the newest organisations to be represented on the panel, having been founded on 27 January 2025. An initiative of non-governmental organisations active in sustainable water-sector operations, it brings together professional engineers in hydraulic structures, water-resources ecology, hydropower, irrigation engineering, and water management.
IAHR Executive Director Tom Soo said, “The membership base of MSWE aligns closely with IAHR as we are the global technical engineering association that covers the entire water cycle.”
“Through the IAHR Platform for National Water Organisations, we will provide opportunities for MSWE to share with and learn from global counterparts—and hope this collaboration helps to achieve MSWE’s vision to enhance and protect Mongolia’s water resources.”
The IAHR Platform for National Water Associations offers a unique opportunity for water engineering organisations to develop and leverage collaborative opportunities and exchange knowledge. By doing so, members will be better heard—both individually and as a collective—and ultimately have a greater impact on sustainable water solutions.
The IAHR Platform for National Water Associations is growing quickly and water associations from all countries are invited to take part.
Through collaboration and a shared commitment to the UN SDGs, platform members are working to drive positive change and make a lasting impact on the future of water management.
