
About the Job
IAHR is seeking a Scientific Publications Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the complete publications portfolio and set the publishing strategy. You will be responsible for boosting and developing the scientific publications and other knowledge products of IAHR; as well as to coordinate and liaise with appropriate entities to ensure the successful development and implementation of the publications action plan.
Responsibilities
Boosting the development of the scientific publications as well as all knowledge products of IAHR (scientific and academic journals, books, monographs, white papers, congress proceedings, reports, Hydrolink trade magazine, etc) in coordination with relevant stakeholders,
Day-to-day coordination and liaison with appropriate parties to ensure the successful implementation of the publication action plan
Ensure high quality and relevant content as well as the timely publication of IAHR’s Hydrolink magazine, and kick-starting its transformation towards an attractive trade magazine
Development of capacity building including management of the IAHR training course series and IAHR label for water training and education
Support the smooth functioning of the Global Secretariat and the Madrid Office and its general activities by carrying out specific tasks as attributed by the Madrid Office Manager or the Executive Director
Qualifications and Skills
Established managerial experience in scientific/academic publishing industry and editing of peer-reviewed scientific publications
Experience working with journals is essential and conference proceedings publishing experience
Excellent communication, influencing and relationship building skills
Native English speaker or equivalent level
In-depth understanding of the publishing industry and its workflow
Ability to identify market needs and define services to address them
Minimum bachelor's degree in Arts, Publishing, Journalism, Communications, Water, Political Science, Engineering or a related field
Autonomy and ability to lead and develop the portfolio of knowledge products
Ability to multi-task and strong organizational skills
Excellent verbal and written English
Other Desirable Skills
Proficiency with content management systems and digital publishing tools
Ability to analyze publication metrics and make data-driven decisions
Knowledge of editorial processes and publishing standards
Ability to work in spanish and/or other languages
