During the 41st IAHR World Congress held in Singapore on 21 June 2025, the IAHR Council Meeting officially approved the elevation of the Working Group on Transient Flows into the Technical Committee on Transient Flows.
The Working Group on Transient Flows had been dedicated to advancing knowledge and practice in the following domains: transient wave theory in hydro-systems; hydro-system diagnosis using transient waves; wave-structure interaction in hydro-systems; geysers in storm-water and combined sewer systems; computational modelling of transient flows (in closed or open conduits); transient-turbulent flows (in closed or open conduits); field work including case studies, practical applications, and projects.
The Technical Committee on Transient Flows will continue to operate in accordance with the IAHR Constitution and Bylaws and, effective today, under the leadership of the incoming Chair, Prof. David Ferras, together with Past Chair Prof. Silvia Meniconi and the current leadership team. The open call for a co-chair and three additional leadership positions remains in place.
