Friday 23 January 2026
4 - 5 pm CET (Italy)
Part of the series: “Online Meetings with Young Researchers and Their Professors from Italian Universities”
In this session, Prof. Bruno Brunone will deliver the opening and closing remarks, while Eng. Debora Falocci will present a presentation about the Combined effect of water hammer and fluid-structure interaction in a cast-iron pipeline with axial movement.
Opening remarks (5 min) Prof. Bruno Brunone
Main presentation (20 min) Eng. Debora Falocci
Closing remarks (5 min) Prof. Brunno Brunone
Q&A Session (15 min) Moderated by Eng. Hossein Azizi Nadian, IAHR Italy YPN
Prof. Bruno Brunone, PhD: He is a Professor, founder and Director of the Water Engineering Laboratory (WEL) of the University of Perugia (http://welabpg.com). He is an Associate Editor of the ASCE Journal of Hydraulic Engineering and Journal of Water Resources Planning and Management; MDPI Journal of Marine Science and Engineering and Water. His present research concerns: transient test-based techniques for the analysis of pipe system performance throughout the urban environment (fault/leak detection); devices for pressure wave generation and their use in real pipe systems; modelling of transients in pressurized pipe systems: unsteady friction simulation, viscoelastic effects in polymeric pipes; management of groundwater and lakes by atmospheric global datasets.
Eng. Debora Falocci, PhD candidate: She is a PhD candidate at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, the University of Perugia. Her research focuses on transient flow in water pipelines.
Eng. Hossein Azizi Nadian: He is a PhD student in the Department of Civil Engineering, Architecture, Territory, Environment, and Mathematics at the University of Brescia, Italy. His research focuses on the hydraulics of open-channel and water pipeline systems.
