It is with great sadness that we annouce the passing of our member Prof. Asaad Yahia Shamseldin, Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. Prof. Shamseldin was Vice Chair of the IAHR Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals, a member of the IAHR Asia and Pacific Regional Division and an Advisor for the IAHR Africa Regional Division. 

With over 285 publications, Prof. Shamseldin had significant research experience in diverse areas of water engineering including flood forecasting, the global water cycle, river health, climate change, natural hazards, urban water, climate change engineering and infrastructure.

Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.
