The Journal of River Basin Management (JRBM) plays a specific role in promoting a cross-sectorial approach encompassing all aspects of river and floodplain management, with a truly global perspective. The Journal is a response by the scientific and professional community to the World Water Vision and calls for an integrated approach to water resources management.

Issue 3, Volume 24 of the International Journal of River Basin Management was just published, and collects innovative studies that touch transversal topics like geomorphology and health, but also river governance and the need for societal participation in river planning.
Among the twelve research papers constituting this issue, you will find studies that look at the transport of natural and non-natural materials along rivers, as well as investigations on the use of hydroinformatics for predicting future changes in water quality and quantity. The results of those studies highlight the need to connect basic research with application, but also to involve society as a whole to plan future management strategies that guarantee a sustainable future for our river basins.
This third issue of 2026 showcases the wide range of topics considered by JRBM, as river basin management calls for a holistic approach, combining expertise from technical and social sciences
