IAHR is seeking a pro-active and dynamic individual to support and deliver on the IAHR Road to Bari framework – an initiative that brings together the best available solutions and science in the water sector to meet the needs of authorities around the world.

 About the Job

Under the supervision of the IAHR Lead on Authorities and Solutions, the Project Officer will support the engagement and mobilisation of authorities at city, basin and national level, as well as solution providers from the private sector.  The Project Officer will also be responsible for coordinating and supporting specific initiatives, events and reports in hydro-environment engineering and policy as well as some specific outputs and activities of IAHR’s members, technical committees and specialist groups.

 Responsibilities

• Mobilise city and related authorities to identify key challenges and priority actions;

• Mobilise basin authorities to identify key challenges and priority actions;

• Support engagement with national governments, ministries and agencies in the water sector;

• Identify, map and maintain structured engagement with priority authorities, networks, solution providers and other Road to Bari stakeholders, including follow-up of contacts and agreed next steps;

• Develop engagement with relevant international and national water, engineering, institutional and authority networks;

• Identify and engage leading solution providers and experts from around the world regarding solutions, trends and emerging innovations;

• Developing a platform with related activities for knowledge exchange and solutions to meet those priority needs;

• Support the development of an active B2B, B2C platform and solutions space at IAHR’s World Congress and other related events;

• Support stakeholder engagement and contributions to IAHR’s World Congress, events and activities;

• Coordinate with relevant IAHR Secretariat staff, Technical Committees, Working Groups, Regional Divisions and World Congress organisers to connect stakeholder engagement with Road to Bari activities and outputs.

 Desired Skills

• Understanding of technical and policy needs and solutions in the water sector;

• Understanding of city, regional, national and/or international water issues and management;

• Strong stakeholder management, organisational and follow-up skills, with the ability to manage multiple relationships and workstreams simultaneously

• Excellent communication skills in English;

• Ability to engage water stakeholders at all levels;

• Experience with conferences and events.

 Qualifications

• Degree in water-related Engineering, Sciences, Political Sciences, Public Administration or related.

• Desired minimum experience of 2 years.

 Type of Contract

10-month initial contract, with possibility of permanent position.

 Salary

Up to 2500 Euros gross / month (depending on experience).

 Format

• Preferably in person (Madrid, Spain) but remote is possible

• Full-time 40 h week
