Dr Michael Nones has been appointed new editor of IAHR International Journal of River Basin Management (JRBM) replacing James Ball who has served in this role for the last seven years.

Michael has been involved in JRBM as an Associate Editor with experience in fluvial morphodynamics and geomorphology, combining numerical modelling with remote sensing. He is an Associate Professor in the Hydrology and Hydrodynamics Department at the Institute of Geophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, Poland. 

He did his Master in Environmental Engineering at the University of Padova, Italy, and, in 2012, he obtained his PhD from the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering Science, University of Padova, Italy.

Before joining the Institute of Geophysics PAS, he spent seven years between the University of Bologna, Italy, gerstgraser - Ingenieurbüro für Renaturierung and BTU Cottbus, Germany.

Michael also was awarded the 2021 JRBM Best Paper Award for his paper Remote sensing and GIS techniques to monitor morphological changes along the middle-lower Vistula River.
