Consmema joins the IAHR Community

ConsmemaWelcome Consmema, IAHR´s newest Institute member

For more than 90 years, Consmema has been providing high quality products and inventive solutions in steel, aluminium and stainless steel in relation to hydrodynamics. They support clients in various sectors with a customer-oriented and pragmatic approach: from engineering in 3D to (complex) welding structures, mechanical sheet metal work to construction work and machining operations. Some of their past projects include the use of scale modules, wave and flow flumes, trial exhibits, tow vehicles, wave dampers, pump rooms and piping.

They are constantly investing in new technology and equipment. Consmema is an excellent partner for efficient production work, as they execute the entire process- from engineering to production, assembly, service and maintenance.

One of Consmema's most recent successes has been the construction of a tow vehicle for the Hydraulic Laboratory in Ostend, Belgium, a division of the Department of Mobility and Public Works. Intended to tow ship models up to 8 meters long in the government research center's towing tank, Consmema's construction resembles a fully automated train and moves against powerful generated waves at high speeds. To allow the scale models in the towing tank to move in all directions, the tow vehicle is equipped with axles for lateral movement, elevation and rotation. Currently, the Dutch metalworking company is constructing a flow flume for Flanders Hydraulics in Antwerp to upgrade their water flow measurement capabilities.
