“It is a great privilege and honour to be selected by the Nominating Committee for the election for IAHR President. By incidence this opportunity came on the 250th anniversary of the death of Luigi Vanvitelli, the designer of the famous Royal Palace in Caserta (under the Bourbon king Charles) and the related marvellous water supply system.

The first decades of the third Millennium are characterized by emerging and increasing attention to water as a primary need for life, as well as potential source of natural disasters. In this context, IAHR must play a steering role to support world and regional institutions, by addressing their future agenda and actions through an effective transfer of the scientific results toward practical solutions…”

“In 1993 I attended the IAHR congress in Tokyo and joined the association. The event was the first opportunity to meet the hydraulic international community and initiate a professional network that has been continuously expanded since. Over the last three decades, I have been committed to this community. Following the 1993 IAHR congress and the seminar on Hydroinformatics, I attended the first International Conference on Hydroinformatics (HIC) at IHE, Delft, the Netherlands. I took an active part in this emerging field through the IAHR-IWA Hydroinformatics committee. In 2006, I led the organizing committee of the 7th HIC in Nice, France…”

“I am deeply grateful to the Nominating Committee for selecting me for the election for IAHR VicePresidency. This election is happening at a moment when we are fast approaching another milestone in IAHR, its 90th Anniversary in 2025, which will bring us together to celebrate nine decades of global leadership in hydro-environment engineering and research. IAHR was an extraordinary association when I first came in contact with it as a young researcher, and it is even more so now. In the meantime we have seen climate change and its effects crystalize into the biggest challenges of the 21st century…”

“I am deeply honored to be nominated to stand election for the IAHR Vice President of American Regional Division for the 2023-25 term. Having been active in IAHR since the early 1990s, while contributing as the Chair of the Fluid Mechanics Committee (2017-2021), an Associate Editor of the Journal of Hydro-environment Research (2007-2014) and a speaker at various IAHR congresses, symposia, and summer schools, I consider this prospective leadership position as an entrée for contributing to IAHR from a higher sphere. If elected, I will use multiple strategies for enhancing the role of American Regional Division…”

"My interest to active participating in IAHR is not just the discovery of new knowledge but also the communication of this information to peers, practitioners, communities and governments. I am very involved with Young Professional, Regional Divisions and Digital Water. IAHR's mission and vision must serve as a link between researchers, engineers and society so that advances in the field of hydraulics are transferred to the day-to-day of our environments. IAHR as an independent organization, must engage in this process with modern, clear and diverse leaders who are committed to the organization and its common goals. I would be glad to share my experience and enthusiasm in this sense in the continuous development of IAHR."
