National University of Singapore
Senior Research Fellow at Tropical Marine Science Institute
About
Farzin Samsami, holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering, with his research focusing on coastal engineering. He is currently a senior research fellow at the National University of Singapore, working at the Physical Oceanography Research Laboratory (PORL), Tropical Marine Science Institute. His expertise is further enriched by research experiences as a research fellow at the Singapore Institute of Technology, where he engaged in an innovative project aimed at advancing our understanding of storm surges in the Singapore area. Additionally, he served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate under the EPSRC-funded project at the Institute for Infrastructure and Environment, Heriot-Watt University, focusing on the dynamics of mixed sediments. Farzin also served as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Florida, contributing to the Suisun Bay Wave Study, and conducted research on wave-current-mud interactions at Waseda University. With over a decade of experience in coastal and estuarine processes, hydrodynamic modeling, and sediment transport, he has led various projects dedicated to coastal and environmental preservation, as well as sustainable coastal and marine development.
