Mauricio F. Villazón Gómez graduated as Civil Engineer from the Universidad Mayor de San Simón (UMSS) in Cochabamba - Bolivia, in 2001. He holds a Master's degree in Water Resources Engineering, obtained in Belgium in the interuniversity program between Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel from 2003 to 2005. In 2007, he began a pre-doctoral program and from 2008 to 2011 he completed his doctorate in Civil Engineering at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium on the subject of Conceptualization of Hydrological and Hydraulic Models. The years 2011 to 2012 he pursues a post-doctorate in the programming of a tool in DBM (data base modeling) in the KULeuven. He has a 15-year experience in water resources projects linked to the Hydraulics Laboratory of the UMSS, Professor at the UMSS since 2012. Director of the Hydraulics Laboratory at UMSS since 2016. Author and / or co-author of more than 25 research articles published in national and international media. His areas of interest are: Sediment transport, river morphology, hydrodynamic modeling, hydrological modeling, programming of conceptual models, climatic variability, climate change, groundwater flow in porous media as well as in rocks and integral management of watersheds.
