Emanuele Quaranta is a scientific officer at the Joint Research Center of the European Commission (Water and Marine Unit Directorate), while previously was post Ph.D. researcher at Politecnico di Torino at the department of Environment, Land and Infrastructure Engineering. He is an hydraulic engineer whose research field is mainly related to hydropower and urban greening. Emanuele was convened as hydropower expert from the European Commission in 2017 on emerging hydropower technologies, and in 2020 from the International Energy Agency – Hydropower and SINTEF Energy Research on the Hydropower and Fish Roadmap. Emanuele cooperates with innovative companies and startup in the scientific valorization of their hydropower technologies. He is also a scientific divulgator and writer for magazines and issues edited by international companies and associations, scientific consultant for companies and Guest Editor of a special issue on the Future of Hydropower for the international journal Sustainability. Emanuele is president of the IAHR YPN Italy.
