Melissa Latella is an environmental engineer and a post-doc researcher at the Euro-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change (CMCC Foundation) since 2023. She holds a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Politecnico di Torino (Italy), where she studied how to integrate field and remote sensing data to monitor riparian and coastal systems and feed biogeomorphological models. At CMCC, she is working on monitoring soil erosion by water and vegetation dynamics through the combined use of measured data and Earth Observation products. In brief, her research interests are: (1) how water, vegetation and sediments interact across rivers, watersheds and coastal environments, (2) the use of field and remote sensing data for monitoring and modelling natural systems, and (3) river restoration and Nature-Based Solutions.
