I am civil engineer from Peru and currently self-funded student of the Erasmus Mundus Master in Applied Ecohydrology organized by the University of Algarve. Being involved in water management, hydraulics and hydrology. Prior to starting my current Master's studies, I worked for the Peruvian governmental entity "Autonomous Authority of Majes" which is responsible for water regulation and distribution as well as rural development in the Arequipa region. My position as hydrology specialist in the Water Resources Department enabled me to contribute to this important task by evaluating the effects of proposed projects related to climate change and the hydraulic infrastructure. In this framework, my most influential contribution lies in the development of a water balance model which serves to assess regional water availability for agricultural uses considering the effects of climate change. The model results clearly indicated that the availability of water would decrease throughout the upcoming years and hence, a shift in infrastructure investment was initiated to sustainably adapt the new irrigated areas in the arid region to the predicted challenges. Moreover, I applied my expertise in various projects related to water management and hydraulics, such as the improvement of water management for high Andean communities, the implementation of infrastructure for rural water distribution during times of drought and the establishment of irrigation systems. These projects contributed significantly to an increased water availability for agricultural and livestock and thus to the development of the Andean communities in the headwaters of the Colca basin in Peru. Moreover, I am part of the YPN – IAHR Peru and I participate in the project named "The Water Journal Club" where I am chief of the club in Ecohydrology. In this project we try to discuss papers about ecohydrology and new techniques around the world.
