Abstract: The effect of water purification by aquatic plant in the semi-closed water is clarified from the field observation and the model examination. The investigation is executed by the following procedures; at the first, the nutrient balance based on the inflow and outflow of the lake and the spatial distribution of water quality was investigated: the second, the amount of aquatic plant in the lake was observed and nutrients content in the plant were evaluated: finally, water quality model concerning aquatic plant's proliferation was constructed, and the contribution of the aquatic plant to the water quality is discussed. The methodology of the present study is applicable not only lakes and marshes but also a culture pond and semi-closed estuary.
