Impact Study of a New Marina on the Sediment Balance. Numerical Simulation

Abstract: Numerical modeling of hydrodynamic processes is a powerful tool to study a sandy coast and the consequences of a coastline layout on natural conditions. This tool allows solving the equations governing water mass movements (fluid mechanics) to know on a given geographic area, fluctuations in time and space of the hydraulic variables for different weather-oceanographic conditions. The simulations were performed using the Mike 21 software, developed by the Danish Hydraulic Institute (DHI), which has a very high reliability. A new method of calibration is proposed, based only on bathymetric surveys. This paper presents a preliminary study of the construction of a new marina in the governorate of Boumerdes (Algeria). This study is to determine the potential impact of the planning on the sediment balance of the site.
