Abstract: Selecting a suitable filling and emptying system is one of the main challenges faced by the responsible engineer in the design of a navigation lock. The aim of the studies described in this Article was to conduct model tests helping to narrow down the large number of systems entering into consideration for locks having dimensions corresponding to the Austrian Danube River, so as to facilitate future design studies.
