Abstract: As far as flow dynamics concerned, river flow is mainly controlled by the earth attraction, while ocean current flow is controlled by multiple factors, including attractions from the earth, the moon and the sun, salt effect, earth’s crustal movement, monsoon, earth rotation, etc. As for the boundary constraint, river flow suffers much more significant effects from boundary than ocean current. The genes differences of the river civilization and the marine civilization manifest in the composition of the main controlling factor being simplification or diversification and in the relative strength of the boundary constraint being definite or obscure relatively. These differences in flow dynamics between the river civilization and marine civilization have exerted profound influence on many aspects of society. Author has analyzed some interesting effects: the social formation in the grand unification or the separation of the three powers, the national temperament in reserve or extroversion, the synthetic or analytic thinking way, the architectural style in the layout of primary and secondary or the opening monomer structure, the scattering perspective or focus perspective in the art of painting, and other artistic expression. Moreover, the key that Chinese civilization is particularly thriving has been analyzed by introducing the excellent contribution of Dayu flood control to Chinese civilization.
