Abstract: The hydrodynamic cavitation is a new and cutting-edge water treatment technology. Compared with ultrasonic cavitation, the hydrodynamic cavitation has the advantages of simple reaction apparatus, relatively small energy consumption, easy operation, low maintenance cost and implementing scale easily. This paper utilized a combination of the Venturi tube and square orifices plate to process a mixing wastewater of p-nitrophenol (hydrophilic contaminants) and nitrobenzene (hydrophobic contaminants). The mixing wastewater, which is compounded in the tank of the hydrodynamic cavitation reactor, flows through the Venturi tube firstly, and then through the multi-orifice plate section. During the experimental process, changes in the flow velocity, the initial concentration, and the circulation cycle of the mixing wastewater as well as the number and size of orifices are carried out. And the degradation rates of the mixing wastewater under the above-mentioned different conditions are analyzed by ultraviolet spectrophotometer.
