Abstract: According to the Chinese sturgeon spawning habits and the characteristics of spawning ground, the three dimensional flow mathematical model was established. In view of different characteristic discharge and dispatching operation modes of Gezhouba Project, combining with analysing the thresholds of bottom velocity and water depth appropriating for Chinese sturgeon spawning, the regional scale of bottom velocity, water depth and the superposition of the two at Gezhouba Project downstream were calculated by this model and analysed. Influence of Gezhouba Project dispatching on Flow Condition of Chinese sturgeon spawning ground was studied. The results show that: When the discharge of Gezhouba Project is in range of 15000m3/s~6000m3/s, the suitable flow area for Chinese sturgeon spawning decreases with the discharge is reduced accordingly; In case that the discharge of Gezhouba Project is low, such as 6000 m3/s, all flow discharged by Plant I is beneficial to keep large suitable flow area in tailrace of Plant I for Chinese sturgeon spawning. At last, the proposals about improving the flow condition of Chinese sturgeon spawning ground are put forward.
