Abstract: p-Nitrophenol (p-NP) is a typical refractory pollutant in surface water environment, and widely used in agricultural chemicals, pharmaceuticals, dyes etc, and it is difficult to be degraded. In this paper, degradation on p-nitrophenol wastewater was studied by the square orifices plates as the generating device of hydrodynamic cavitation, which was designed in the Hydraulics Laboratory of Zhejiang University of Technology. The influences of the opening ratio of the multi-orifice plate, hydraulic radius, back pressure of hydraulic cavitation and cavitation number on degradation of p-nitrophenol were explored. On this basis, the impact of initial concentration of p-nitrophenol and pH value was studied. The results show that decrease in the opening ratio and hydraulic radius and increase in back pressure of cavitation could improve the treatment effect of hydrodynamic cavitation. the low cavitation number, initial concentration of 20-40 mg/L and weak acid environment were more promoted to the degradation of p-nitrophenol wastewater.
